Why did many Americans consider the Lousiana Territory an important acquisition?

Answer:

Responses may vary but should include some or all of the following information: Americans considered the Louisiana Territory to be full of potential. They believed that it would create economic opportunities by offering improved trade, unrealized amounts of natural resources, and vast amounts of land. The territory would also provide more room for the increasing population along the East Coast. Those who supported American Indian removal policies believed that the territory was the perfect place to relocate eastern American Indian tribes to.
