What conclusion can be made based on the temperature of soil when the light hits the soil at 0°, 45°, and 90° angles in Section 2 of the experiment? Did your results support your hypothesis? Why or why not?

Answer:

I can conclude that the more direct light/rays a material receives, the more heat it absorbs. The results support my hypothesis because the results show that the temperature of the soil is highest at the 90º angle of insolation. At this angle, the soil sample received the most direct rays and absorbed the most heat.

Which statement describes how the angle of insolation affects different areas of Earth?

A
The area near the pole absorbs more heat.
B
The area near the equator receives less heat.
C
The area near the equator is warmer than the area near the pole.
D
The area near the pole receives more direct sunrays than the area near the equator.

What did you include in your response? Check all that apply.

A
The more direct rays a material receives, the more heat it absorbs.
B
The results supported [or did not support] my hypothesis and explanation.
C
The results show that at the 90-degree angle of insolation, the soil sample had the highest temperature and absorbed the most heat.
