Explain one physical conflict and one social conflict that Paul has had in the novel so far. Then tell whether or not you think Paul has been able to solve his conflicts.

Answer:

A physical conflict Paul faces is his ongoing physical rivalry with Mitchell, who often bullies and beats him up. A social conflict Paul faces is his struggle to fit in; because he is biracial, he is not fully accepted by the white community or the Black community. So far, Paul hasn't fully solved these conflicts because he is still searching for a place where he truly belongs and is still navigating his tense relationship with Mitchell.
