Question 3 • TX-World Geography Studies
Answer:
Canada’s Aboriginal, or Indigenous, peoples include First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. First Nations are many distinct nations living mainly south of the Arctic and have diverse languages, cultures, and traditional territories. Inuit are Indigenous peoples of the Arctic and have traditions adapted to northern environments, including hunting and fishing. Métis people have mixed First Nations and European ancestry and developed a distinct culture, history, and Michif language, especially in the Prairie provinces. These groups differ in their origins, languages, regions, and cultural traditions.
