Question 7 • TX-World Geography Studies
Answer:
The Midwest is called the “breadbasket” of the United States because it has vast areas of fertile soil, relatively level land, adequate rainfall, and a climate suitable for large-scale farming. The region produces enormous quantities of wheat, corn, soybeans, oats, and other crops. Modern machinery, transportation networks, and food-processing industries also help the Midwest supply food to the rest of the country and to international markets.
