What is one reason it is important to wear a seat belt?

Airbags are supplemental restraints: they are designed to work together with seat belts, not replace them. A seat belt helps keep you properly positioned so the airbag can protect you as intended. Airbags may deploy even when seat belts are not being used, and neither airbags nor seat belts can prevent every death or injury.
