Which statement best describes President Lyndon Johnson?

Answer

Johnson helped the United States transition after Kennedy’s death by honoring his predecessor’s policies.

Johnson helped the people of the United States put the Kennedy presidency behind them by proposing different policies.

Johnson started the space program to give the grieving United States a new reason to hope.

Johnson declared that a period of mourning was not a good time to change government policies.

Explanation

After President Kennedy was assassinated, Johnson sought to provide continuity and reassure the country by carrying forward Kennedy’s proposals, including civil rights legislation and tax cuts. This best matches the statement that Johnson honored his predecessor’s policies during the transition. Johnson did not start the space program; it began before his presidency.
