Ronnie is conducting research for his English paper about Jackie Robinson. He has gathered these resources:• a copy of a 1955 newspaper article about Jackie Robinson and the World Series• a nonfiction book about the life and career of Jackie Robinson• a television documentary about Jackie Robinson’s making baseball history• a series of blogs created by baseball fans around the countryWhich resource is most likely to contain unreliable information and why?
Answer
A
A copy of a 1955 newspaper article about Jackie Robinson and the World Series, because the information is outdated.
B
A nonfiction book about the life and career of Jackie Robinson, because any author can get a book published.
C
A television documentary about Jackie Robinson’s making baseball history, because these types of programs often exaggerate the truth.
D
A series of blogs created by baseball fans around the country, because people can write whatever they want in personal blogs.
Explanation
Personal blogs can be written by anyone, and their claims may not be checked by an editor or supported by reliable sources. The blogs created by baseball fans are therefore the resource most likely to contain unreliable information. The 1955 article may be old, but being dated does not automatically make it unreliable as a historical source.
