How to Speed Up Edgenuity Videos (2026)
EDGENUITY AUTOMATION
- Auto Complete Exams
- Auto Complete Assignments
- Skip Videos Instantly
Short answer: it depends on which Edgenuity your school uses. On EdgeX (student.ex.edgenuity.com) and on Subject, Revolt's Video Speed presets run lesson videos at 5x by default, with 10x and 20x presets when you want them gone even faster. On classic Edgenuity (learn.edgenuity.com), the player doesn't give you a speed control that reliably sticks, and generic speed controllers are hit-or-miss there.
So on classic Edgenuity the realistic goal isn't a faster video. It's a video you don't have to sit and watch. Revolt plays classic videos through hands-free and moves you on when they end, so the clock runs while you do something else. Below is how to tell which platform you're on, why the usual speed tricks fall apart on classic, and the setup that works on each.
First: which Edgenuity are you on?
Look at the address bar once you're inside a course. That one detail decides which method applies to you. If you're not sure how the two platforms differ beyond the URL, our EdgeX vs Edgenuity breakdown covers it.
| Platform | Address | Can videos be sped up? | Best method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Edgenuity | learn.edgenuity.com | Not reliably | Revolt plays them hands-free: Auto Instructions, Skip Intro, Auto Advance, Allow Tab Out |
| EdgeX | student.ex.edgenuity.com | Yes | Revolt Video Speed presets: 5x default, 10x and 20x |
| Subject | app.subject.com | Yes | Same 5x / 10x / 20x presets with Auto Instructions |
Why generic speed controllers are unreliable on classic Edgenuity
Most of the results for this search are speed-controller add-ons and how-tos for them. Those tools work by changing the playback rate of a normal HTML5 video element. On YouTube or a news site, that's all it takes. Classic Edgenuity is a different animal: lesson content loads inside nested frames that get rebuilt as you move from frame to frame, and the player has its own ideas about when a video counts as watched.
In practice that means the speed you set often doesn't survive. Students report a mix of these, depending on the course and the browser:
- •The speed resets to 1x every time a new frame loads, so you're re-clicking the speed controller all lesson.
- •The speed controller can't find the video at all because it lives inside a frame it doesn't reach.
- •The video plays faster, but the Next button stays locked until the player is satisfied.
- •Audio and progress drift out of sync, and the frame has to be reloaded.
'Sometimes works' is not something to build a semester around. That's also why Revolt doesn't advertise sped-up videos on classic Edgenuity. It solves the problem from the other side: if the video can't get shorter, it shouldn't need you.
Classic Edgenuity: make videos play themselves
On learn.edgenuity.com, Revolt turns video time into background time. These features work together:
- •Auto Instructions: plays instruction videos through to the end, handles warm-ups and summaries, answers the practice questions inside them, and advances frames with a countdown widget so you can see what's next.
- •Skip Intro: clears intro overlays and blockers so each video starts right away instead of waiting on a click.
- •Auto Advance: moves you to the next activity when one finishes, and clears eNotes steps so the course doesn't stall.
- •Allow Tab Out: keeps videos playing when you switch tabs, with picture-in-picture if you want to keep an eye on it.
- •Mute Audio and Video Dimmer: silence the lesson and dim the player so it isn't blaring or glowing while you work on something else.
The video still takes its real length, but none of your attention. Start a lesson, switch tabs, and come back to find the next activity already loaded. For more on how the video side works, see how to skip Edgenuity videos, which goes deeper on the classic setup.
EdgeX and Subject: real speed presets
On EdgeX and Subject, Revolt can actually change how fast lesson videos run. Video Speed defaults to 5x, with 10x and 20x presets. Here's the setup:
- 1Install Revolt from the download page and activate a key. Setup takes about two minutes.
- 2Open your EdgeX or Subject course in the same browser.
- 3Turn on Auto Instructions and pick a Video Speed preset. 5x is the default.
- 4Turn on Auto Advance so the next lesson starts on its own.
- 5Optional: choose a delay preset (ASAP, Light, Medium or Safe) so activities don't finish back-to-back with zero gap.
Which preset should you pick? 5x already turns a ten-minute video into two minutes. 20x turns it into thirty seconds, which is great for your afternoon and also exactly what shows up as time spent. More on that below. For everything else Revolt does on the new platform, see EdgeX hacks.
Run EdgeX videos at 5x, or let classic Edgenuity videos play themselves while you do something else.
Install RevoltSpeed vs time-on-task: don't overdo it
Teachers can see activity logs and how long you spent on each activity. A unit of video lessons cleared in a few minutes is a different-looking log than one cleared over an afternoon. How closely anyone looks depends on your teacher and school, but it's worth not making it easy.
- •Default to 5x on EdgeX and Subject. Save 10x and 20x for review lessons or a real deadline.
- •Use the delay presets. Medium or Safe adds breathing room between activities.
- •Run automation during normal hours with the Work Hours Scheduler instead of at 3 AM.
- •Spread a big backlog across several days rather than one marathon session.
Frequently asked questions
Can you speed up Edgenuity videos?+
On EdgeX and Subject, yes: Revolt's Video Speed presets run lesson videos at 5x by default, with 10x and 20x presets. On classic Edgenuity the player has no reliable speed control, so Revolt plays those videos through hands-free instead.
Does Video Speed Controller work on Edgenuity?+
Inconsistently. On classic Edgenuity, videos live in nested frames that reload as you move through a lesson, so the speed often resets or the Next button stays locked until the player decides the video is done.
What's the fastest video speed in Revolt?+
20x on EdgeX and Subject. The default is 5x, and there's a 10x preset in between.
Do Edgenuity videos keep playing if I switch tabs?+
Normally they pause. Revolt's Allow Tab Out keeps them playing in the background, with picture-in-picture if you want to watch while doing something else.
Can my teacher see if I sped up the videos?+
Teachers can see time spent on activities, so faster videos mean less time logged. Sticking to 5x and using a delay preset keeps your log looking ordinary.
Stop watching, start finishing
Faster videos on EdgeX and Subject, hands-free videos on classic Edgenuity, and Auto Advance chaining it all together. Install Revolt, grab a key from $2.50, and let the lesson play without you.
