Read the excerpt from The Land, Part 4.When Ray Sutcliffe left us, I said to my daddy, "You didn't ask me if I wanted to ride that man's horse.""No, I didn't.""Well, why not? Maybe I wanted to ride for him."
Answer
A
Paul and his father will argue about Paul riding Sutcliffe’s horses.
B
Paul and his father will come to an understanding about Sutcliffe’s horses.
C
Paul will agree with his father that he shouldn’t ride horses he doesn’t know.
D
Paul will get permission from his father to ride Sutcliffe’s horses.
Explanation
Paul questions why his father did not ask whether he wanted to ride for Sutcliffe, showing that he disagrees with his father’s decision. His father answers briefly without offering permission, so the exchange suggests they will argue about Paul riding Sutcliffe’s horses rather than quickly reaching an understanding.
