If EdgeX isn't working, the cause is usually one of three things: a school network or content filter blocking part of the site, a browser problem like stale cache or a conflicting extension, or a session that timed out. EdgeEX (Imagine's official spelling) loads content from several domains, and if a filter blocks any of them, videos and questions just spin or show blank.

Start with Imagine's own connection check at sentinel.ex.edgenuity.com. It tests whether your network can reach everything EdgeX needs and tells you what's blocked. Then work through the fixes below in order. Most problems are solved in the first two sections.

Step 1: run the EdgeX connection check

Imagine provides a system check at sentinel.ex.edgenuity.com. Open it on the same device and network where EdgeX is failing. If it reports blocked resources, the problem is the network, not your account or browser. On a school network, send the results to your teacher or IT department so they can add the missing domains to their allow-list.

If the check passes and EdgeX still fails, move on to the browser fixes.

Step 2: network and content filter issues

Schools run content filters that block sites by default, and EdgeX needs several domains allowed to work. Signs it's the filter:

  • •EdgeX works at home but not at school, or the reverse.
  • •The page loads but videos, images or questions stay blank.
  • •It works on one Wi-Fi network but not another.
  • •Classmates on the same network have the same problem.

You can't fix a school filter yourself. Report it with the connection check results. At home, try restarting the router, turning off any VPN or parental-control software for a moment, or switching networks (a phone hotspot is a quick test).

Step 3: browser fixes

  1. 1Hard refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows and Chromebook, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
  2. 2Clear cookies and cached files for the Edgenuity sites, then log in again.
  3. 3Update your browser. EdgeX targets current versions of Chrome and Edge.
  4. 4Turn off ad blockers and other extensions one at a time to find a conflict.
  5. 5Allow pop-ups for the Edgenuity sites, since some activities open in new windows.
  6. 6Try a different supported browser to rule out a broken profile.
  7. 7Check your device's date and time. A clock that's far off can break secure sign-ins.

Chromebook notes

On a school Chromebook, your district controls a lot of settings, including which extensions are allowed and which sites are filtered. Restart the Chromebook and check for ChromeOS updates first. If EdgeX only fails on the school device, it's almost always a managed-device policy, so report it to IT. Revolt works on Chromebooks where the school allows the Tampermonkey extension.

On a personal Chromebook, the browser fixes above apply as normal. Sign out of other Google accounts if your school login keeps picking the wrong one.

Getting logged out mid-lesson? Revolt's Anti Logout keeps your EdgeX session active while you work.

Step 4: session timeouts and logouts

EdgeX signs you out after a stretch of inactivity, which is frustrating in the middle of a long video or test. If you keep landing back on the login screen, that's a timeout, not a bug. Log back in through your usual route (school portal, Clever or ClassLink); the EdgeX login guide covers each one.

Revolt's Anti Logout keeps your session active on EdgeX so you don't get kicked out between activities. If you use Cloud Completions, Auto Re-Login handles it on Revolt's servers instead.

Revolt not working on EdgeX?

If EdgeX itself loads but Revolt isn't doing anything, check these first:

  • •You're on student.ex.edgenuity.com with the Revolt script installed and enabled in Tampermonkey, set up from the EdgeX install page.
  • •Your key is active. Check it in the Revolt panel, or get one from the pricing page.
  • •The feature you want is turned on for the activity type you're on.
  • •The feature exists on EdgeX. Instant Exam, Accuracy Range, Auto Essay, Auto eNotes and the Proctorio bookmarklet are classic Edgenuity only.
  • •Refresh the page after changing settings.

Still stuck? The Revolt docs have setup and troubleshooting steps, and the Revolt Discord has 47,000+ members and a support channel. If your problem is on classic Edgenuity instead, see Edgenuity not working.

Frequently asked questions

Why is EdgeX not loading?+

Usually a school network filter blocking EdgeX domains, a browser cache or extension problem, or an expired session. Run the connection check at sentinel.ex.edgenuity.com to see if it's the network.

Why does EdgeX work at home but not at school?+

The school's content filter is likely blocking a domain EdgeX needs. Share the connection check results with your teacher or IT so they can allow it.

Why do EdgeX videos stay black or keep buffering?+

Video content often comes from a separate domain that filters block, or the connection is too slow. Try another network and clear your browser cache.

Why does EdgeX keep logging me out?+

EdgeX ends sessions after inactivity. Revolt's Anti Logout keeps the session active while you work, and Cloud Completions use Auto Re-Login.

What should I do if Revolt isn't working on EdgeX?+

Make sure the script is enabled, your key is active and the feature is supported on EdgeX, then refresh. If it still fails, check docs.revolt.ly or ask in the Revolt Discord.

Get back to work

Once EdgeX loads, install Revolt for EdgeX and grab a key from the pricing page ($2.50 a day, $10 a week, $25 a month) to keep your session alive and your course moving.
